May 19, 2008 - Suppose the number you choose is X. Adding 1+2+4+3 to it gives you (X+10). Then he said, take away the number you just thought of, that is X. That leaves you with 10 (=X+10-X). Taking 6 away from it leaves you with 4, the equivalent of the 4th letter of the alphabet, D. How he got DENMARK instead of another country starting by 'D' is unknown to me. Could be just a question of psychology and luck, Denmark being the country which would most probably come to one's mind first. Cheers :)

May 19, 2008 - It doesn't matter whichever number you take, since the 'direction' (+ or -) has no importance. Only the magnitude counts. Thus, taking 1,2 or -5,-10,-200 would leave anybody with the same answer, which is 4 :)
