May 15, 2008 - JESUS!! I CANT WAIT!!!!

imattic Says:

May 16, 2008 - Ive waited nearly 12 years of this - HELL YEAH!!!

TeshiTah Says:

May 18, 2008 - That waterfall scene looks fake...almost as bad as the ice melting sequence in "Die Another Day". CGI works in a lot of ways, but when you overuse it, it becomes a problem.

RJW1977 Says:

May 18, 2008 - TeshiTah:Yeah, I know what you mean. But I'm surprised Spielberg would use CGI like this. He stated that he would only use it to enhance backgrounds and remove wires. Maybe we haven't seen the finished product yet, or at least I hope not. The other Jones movies didn't have any CGI in them, so there's no earthly reason why this one should. But maybe the Berg is getting lazy in his old age. Who knows?

CaryErnst Says:

May 18, 2008 - so whats wrong with CGI? its gonna be like all other 3 movies but what if some cgi? there is still gonna be a lot of stunt work and harrison ford did all his stunts

CaryErnst Says:

May 18, 2008 - the waterfall scene seems funny jejeje"put in reverse""whoaaa whoaaaaa!"

RJW1977 Says:

May 18, 2008 - CaryErnst:CGI looks good with reflective metal objects like Transformers or the T-1000. But with most things, it looks fake compared to live action or models. CG is cheaper, easier and faster to do, this is why everyone uses it. However, there's no regard for craftsmanship anymore. And audiences have become so complacent with CGI, that people have forgotten how things actually move and look in real life.

May 19, 2008 - If you ever watch the indiana jones movies, remember the last crusade's airplane fighter scene, FX shot was cheesy but funny. I don't why everyone is bitching about the CGI in this movie. I just read a review on it, it has 3 to 4 big CGI shots in the movie. IF CGI is used, it is used with a good reason. Plus all the indiana jones movies are great, Harrison Ford and Steve wouldn't make Indiana Jones 4 if the movie itself was stupid.

RJW1977 Says:

May 19, 2008 - I agree that the bluescreen used in the "Last Crusade" wasn't very good, but look at "Lord of the Rings" and how good it was when they made Frodo look like he was 4 feet tall compared to Gandalf. Bluescreen is far better today, and yet they insist on using a CGI Hulk instead of a real actor. Take "Raiders of the lost Ark" for example. If they remade the last scene of the Ark's wrath, they would use CGI and it would be done in no time, but it would look like a video game.

RJW1977 Says:

May 19, 2008 - Another thing that they always get wrong with CGI is speed of movement. Like if a CG character falls out of a tree, they fall twice as fast as they really should. Hence, if a boat falls down a waterfall, it doesn't shoot down like a missile, it actually falls at the same speed of the water. Which, if you've ever seen a large waterfall, you'll notice that the water appears to be falling quite slowly.

CaryErnst Says:

May 19, 2008 - i know i knowand im not trying to start some kind of discussion of who is against cgi and who is in favor :Dmy point was that in those days people used to say "oh look at that, looks so fake" like bigtcos says about "the last crusade" airplane fight. and now a days people keep saying things like that and I admit some things looks good and some bad thats all :D Spielberg said not alot of CGI will be used but come on somethings cant be build or done :D

CaryErnst Says:

May 19, 2008 - like when they are running down the stairsthat was 100:% real :Di saw it in behind the scenes footagewheeeww what a long comment i posted before :D

RJW1977 Says:

May 19, 2008 - Whether it be CG or Model, the best FX are the ones you didn't know were FX. A good example is in the Star Wars prequels, where all of the clone troopers were done with CGI. They didn't make a single clone trooper costume for any of those films, and I didn't find that out until after I saw the making of the trilogy. One other example of great CGI is King Kong in Peter Jackson's version. All other CG creatures in that film were typical, but Kong was legendary. Even I'll admit that.

CaryErnst Says:

May 19, 2008 - jejejeje:D

drcoxcentral Says:

May 19, 2008 - This is the best TV spot I've seen yet!

Firesinthedesert Says:

May 19, 2008 - Same here! (Some of the othersfor this movie are just as good, too)

bigtcos Says:

May 19, 2008 - Look at the Indiana Jones movies. The story is fiction, the characters are fiction, the objects are fiction, the special effect are not real. Who cares. The movies are great period.

bigtcos Says:

May 19, 2008 - Yeah but Lord of the Rings was made in the 2000s, the Last Crusade was made in 1989. Your point only proves how they mastered the bluescreen over the years. Plus Indiana Jones is not suppose to be taken as being a realistic movie. All the special effects in those movies are cheesy. The special effects didnt make Indiana Jones movies great, what makes the movies great is the story, action, characters, scenes, even the sets. Its is telling a great story. Its not about physics & special effects.

RJW1977 Says:

May 19, 2008 - Yes, that's why I said "Bluescreen is far better today". You should read my statement again before you respond. So, you think these Indy FX are chessy and irrelevant? Maybe your right, and maybe Jurassic Park or Terminator 2 would've been great without FX. Because it's all about the story isn't it. Notice how I used two CGI classics. But isn't it interesting how bluescreen has improved, but CGI hasn't changed much since the Abyss came out in 1989. Or at least to us moviegoers.

RJW1977 Says:

May 19, 2008 - Anyway, sorry for the misunderstanding about "Lord of the Rings". I guess I should have mentioned that it didn't come out in the 1980's

RJW1977 Says:

May 19, 2008 - Apparently this film isn't being shown in digital theaters, it's only being shown in theaters with film projectors. Strange, because Lucas was the guy who started the digital revolution. Anyone have any idea why they're doing this? aside from Nostalgia.

Clock88 Says:

May 20, 2008 - One world... Spielberg. He is very stubborn about the "digital age".

CaryErnst Says:

May 20, 2008 - youve said it :D
