Who Killed Rhonda Hinson?The most investigated case in the history of the Burke County Sheriff's Office remains unsolved. The shooting death of Rhonda Annette Hinson, an attractive 19-year old from Valdese, continues to frustrate detectives assigned to solving a crime which has no apparent motive.On the evening of Tuesday, December 22, 1981, Rhonda attended her office's (Hickory Steel Company) Christmas party at the American Legion Hut in Hickory. After leaving the party around midnight, she stopped by a friend's house to pick up her vehicle and call her boyfriend.After leaving the friend's residence, Rhonda drove her beige Datsun 210 two-door west on Interstate 40 and exited onto the Mineral Springs Mountain/Highway 350 off-ramp. She turned right (north) and began traveling up a steep hill toward her home when a high powered rifle projectile was fired into the vehicle. Jun 17, 2008 - I dont have information.But, I just watched a different unsolved mysteries show and somebody mentioned a dark colored car.One inolved in killing a kid in U.S. named Jenny Patt or something.

Jul 2, 2008 - It still has not been solved to this day unfortnately. Something was on her mind too bad she couldn't have shared her problem with someone. It may not have mattered at all though. Seems like a hit to me.

Jul 10, 2008 - I don't think so. A hitman would not take her out of her car. He would have shot her and then went away as quickly as possible. The car that fled of could also be someone who have seen it happen and panicked. But not likely. If the person carrying her out of the car was just someone who wanted to help her he would have contacted autorities or called an ambulance. I think there were two guys and that one of them did not know on forehand she would be shot.

Jul 14, 2008 - I wonder if they really meant to kill her. Maybe they just wanted to scare her. I mean, they fired into the trunk of her car - I think it's a fluke that she died. They were probably trying to determine what happened and maybe see if they could revive her when they took her out of the car. But I do think there was an affair involved somewhere in all this.
